This year is going to be a tad different since I held a contest last summer. Portraits taken after that contest are eligible. The rules are pretty simple...anyone can vote and you may only vote once. 3 weeks and counting...

My precious baby boy is 3 weeks old today! My how time flies by. He is doing absolutely wonderful and I couldn't ask for a sweeter little angel! Going from two to three kids has been much easier then I ever expected. My two older sons are an amazing help and adore their little brother. January has been a busy month for me filled with birthdays (my two older sons turned four and two) and a few newborn portrait sessions (which I always love!). I come off of maternity leave on February 15th (officially) and very excited! I have taken lots of newborn pictures of Isaac and thought I would share a few with you all. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

I am, however, photographing newborn sessions now. I also will be posting a new price list for 2009 shortly. There aren't too many changes to it...mainly restructuring packages and collections. BOY!! We welcomed our third boy into our family today! Isaac was born on December 20th at 8:58am. He weighed in at 7 pounds 6.7 ounces and 19.5 inches long. His two older brothers adore him as well as his proud parents! We are very blessed to have him home for Christmas. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

He knows his nickname (Tres)...so smart already!

Space Shuttle Endeavor

My family and I were down in Clear Lake today for doctor appointments that we had. When we were leaving my son's pedi appointment we noticed something spectacular in the sky - Endeavor being piggy backed on its way home! I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped away (mind you my husband was driving). It's not the best picture, but definitely a cool picture worth sharing! I love the T-38 trailing behind them! :)

Holiday 2008 Update

I am 36 weeks today, so that means I am off of bed rest and medication. Since I am 9 months pregnant I am fair game now! This is a great holiday present for me as I can really get on the ball with finishing all last minute orders. I will keep you all update when Baby Tres decides to make his/her grand entrance! I should be back from maternity leave by February.

Speaking of orders...all holiday orders need to be placed before December 15th. That will ensure you get your order before Christmas.

I am currently on medication to stop my pre term contractions and need to take it slow before Baby Tres arrives. This being my first session post-Ike I have learned a few things. One lesson learned is that things are still not back to normal as far as parks/gardens go. We found that out when arriving at our destination only to find it being closed early. Since I use natural light we had to dart across town to our back up destination - downtown Houston. We made it in time and it ended up working out well, but the drive getting there was a nightmare (especially for two pregnant women)! ;) J and J, thank you for a wonderful maternity session and can't wait to meet your new bundle of joy! Halloween/Fall Mini-Session

I am going to be holding a public mini session on October 12th (Sunday) specifically for those cuties in their Halloween costumes! This will take place in the Clear Lake area (specific location information will be coming soon). Proceeds for this special mini session will be going toward a family who lost their home from Hurricane Ike.

Here are the details:
1) The session fee is $75 (50% off normal fee). This is due one week prior to the session to reserve your spot. If not paid by then your spot will become available.
2) There will be limited numbered time slots - 6 slots total.
3) The session will be 20 minutes long.
4) Children of all ages (even the babies can do this!) in their costume.
5) You will receive 10-15 proofs on your own password protected gallery up on my website.
6) All a la carte prints are 50% off.

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting my first Cypress clients, Mr. and Mrs. L! They were such a joy to work with and I loved their sense of humor throughout the maternity session. They are expecting their first child (a girl) this October...you'll be seeing newborn portraits next month! Due to damage my family has suffered from Ike's wrath, I will be behind on editing pictures about a week or two. My house has become a safe haven and shelter for my family (who lives near Clear Lake) and playing hostess takes up some time that I usually have for editing pictures. I will say we were VERY lucky to have minimal roof damage (patch of shingles missing) from Ike, but I didn't expect too much damage living out here in the north-west side of Houston. Although it was a very scary night, indeed. I hope and pray that all of you are safe. Ike was a monster of a storm and hopefully our area is free from another major hurricane for another 25 years. I know most of my clients are in the Clear Lake/Galveston area. If we have a session scheduled on the beach in the next month or two I will be contacting you shortly. Back to Business!

I am back from New York City (in which we had an amazing anniversary vacation!) and it's time to get these holiday sessions going. I start back up this weekend and it will be non-stop until Thanksgiving! If you want to have a session done, the time to book is now. August is booked solid, September is filling up, and then October will be it. November sessions can be done, but the timing may be too close to call if you want your portraits and/or holiday cards by December 15th. Let the sessions begin! :)

Vacation

Tomorrow I will be on vacation until Monday. This will be my last vacation this year, I promise! I have had a busy summer of traveling, but with the baby coming we had to get everything done in time. This is actually a vacation for my 5th wedding anniversary (August 9th)! My husband has completely planned everything down to every daily event...and I don't have a clue! I don't even know where we are going, it's all a surprise. I'm pretty excited and can't wait to find out where we're going! I'll be back Monday to answer emails and get final orders ready. Hope everyone is staying safe and dry during the tropical storm!

Summer Update

It is nice to be back on the world wide web and have Internet access again - who knew you could have withdrawals?! I am in the process of returning all the emails...thanks for being patient with me! Here are a few updates and things you need to know:

1) I've moved. And we're not talking to the other side of Clear Lake. I have moved over an hour and half away to the lovely suburb of Cypress, Texas. What does this mean for my clients in Clear Lake? I will still come down that way for sessions! Have no fear, it can work out. However, if you are wanting studio style portraits you will have to come up here for my in-home studio (which is bigger and better then before!). For the rest of 2008 all mini-sessions will still be held in the Clear Lake Area at Bay Area Park. In 2009 I will start doing some in Cypress, but continue to have a couple down in Clear Lake. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to email me!

2) I am now available for Saturday sessions!! I know a lot of y'all will be excited about this. Since we have moved and I am pregnant with my third child I have quit my PRN job as an OB nurse. I usually reserved this day off in case they needed me either for a Friday or Saturday night shift. Now this won't be an issue, so my days available will now be Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday! :)

3) If you are wanting holiday sessions done (for Christmas cards) I advise you start booking for September and October in order to have everything in your hands in time. You don't want to be sending out your cards the day before Christmas! I am working on some new designs for cards and will have them on my website soon. I'll post here to let you know when they are available to view!

4) My pregnancy is progressing very well! I am now 18 weeks (4.5 months) and everything looks great. I'm a little surprised that my stomach isn't as big as it was with my last baby (my second), but he was also a HUGE baby. I'm hoping this little bundle of joy will be normal in size like my first son...fingers crossed! We still don't know the gender of the baby...we like surprises! With my history though I will more then likely deliver in December...even though I'm due in January. I will be stopping sessions for maternity leave the day before Thanksgiving. I'll come back in either February or March - I'll play it by ear and keep everyone updated. However, newborn sessions will still be done during my maternity leave! Here is my latest belly collage...enjoy! :)

Pictures at the Park

I held another mini-session today at the park. I really like these and it appears so do parents! :) Today was booked solid with children and babies out at Bay Area Park. They all did wonderful!

If you are ever interested in doing a mini-session you can email me for more information and dates I will be holding them (my next one will be in September). Everything is half off - half off the session fee, half off the prints, and you receive half the amount of proofs (it ranges from 5-10 proofs). It's a great deal!

...so to speak. Well, there is no hiding it any longer. What is it you ask? My belly bump. Yes, that's correct - I'm pregnant! :) I'm almost 14 weeks and cruising right into my second trimester. A lot of people have asked why I cut down my sessions to only four a month...and that would be why! My first trimester was rough with morning sickness, but I am sailing through it just fine now. You will start seeing some of my maternity pictures as I progress...I love taking my own! :) I'm due in early January (and we aren't finding out if it's a boy or girl!), so I will go on maternity leave at Thanksgiving. I will, however, continue to do newborn pictures during my maternity leave since you can't control when they arrive! :) So here is my 13 week belly picture...enjoy! :)

I can't believe that the time has come for me to celebrate my One Year Anniversary coming up this July! On July 2, 2007 I took the huge frightening jump and started my own photography business. It's amazing to look back at sessions from the beginning comparing them to my sessions now...you can see such a huge growth and transformation. I'm very proud of that and hope my second year in business brings even more growth as I learn more with every session I have. So to celebrate having done 65 sessions in my first year of business (that's more then one a week!) I want to offer some great prizes to my fantastic clients!! I've done this before and have had such a wonderful response to it that I would love to start doing this twice a year (one on my anniversary and one for the end of the year). My family took a road trip down to lovely San Antonio this week to visit Shamu and his friends at Sea World! The water park was the best part for me...what a great cool down for this Texas heat. We went back out to League City park today for a family session. We were lucky enough to get shaded by the clouds while they held in the rain. Engagement pictures (E:Sessions as they are being called these days) are always so much fun! I had the pleasure of meeting J and N today down in Galveston for their engagement portraits. It was a beautiful day down at the strand and we had a lot of fun walking around and doing several laps...who knew a session could also be a workout?! :) We then headed down to the beach where the waves were fierce. Wedding Bliss

I was honored to shoot another wedding with Amanda this evening. It was the neatest wedding I have seen in a long time - very fresh and modern! It was located in downtown Houston at the Sonja Roesch Gallery...timeless and inspirational art inside. The wedding was beautiful and everyone had a great time. I really enjoy weddings (especially with Amanda since she rocks!) and can't wait to shoot more together.

And yes...this has something to do with the "big thing" happening soon! :)

I know I have been slacking in the blogging area, but things have been busy over on my end (which is a good thing)! :) I do want to give a heads up that my prices will be increasing on May 1, 2008. I am currently in the process of designing my new website with new look. Call it a makeover for 2008 if you will! I am really excited about it and have been trying to get this going for weeks. I am now down to the last process of proof reading, doing double takes, and fixing last minute details. I am hoping to launch it this weekend! I wanted to give you a sneak peek (because how can I not?!) of one of the pages, so I thought I would choose this page below. It's one of the neat new features I am offering and that is a calendar for the public to view my schedule. That way if a date is booked, it will be marked. Pretty cool huh? I had a small picture party today in celebration of my new studio lights (compliments of my wonderful grandfather) and 5 backdrops (black, blue, pink, white, and red). Today was my last scheduled session of the year. This little cutie did so well! She allowed us to play dress up and use lots of different props without ever fussing. She truly is an angel! Here is your sneak peek with more coming soon! :)

CNN Money did their annual "Best Places to Live" study for 2007 and the list is out. I was very pleased to see my town make the top 100 list coming in a #51!! It was the only Houston area suburb to make the cut. Way to go Friendswood and keep up the great work!
